Conceive Magazine, Page 60

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

I could not be any more ecstatic to share with you that the featured success story in the fall 2010 issue of Conceive magazine is ours!

I submitted the story just a week or so after Paisley was born and have been anxiously awaiting to see it in print. Imagine my overwhelmed surprise when I found a three-page layout. The photos done by local photographer Melissa Mullinax illustrate the story beautifully.

I’ve already received a message from one Twitter  (@StorkonStrike) follower saying “Grt story! Inspired me to think positive.” That’s the best feedback I can hear.

If I may – I’m really proud of myself right now. Having a little healthy pride is completely acceptable. We’ve worked so hard and every day I’m reminded how abundantly blessed we are. If our story helps even one other person cope with their infertility, then mine was just a little bit more worthwhile. I’ve often said that as odd as it sounds, it’s one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.

Interview with AOL Daily Finance

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

We were recently contacted to do an interview for BabyOrBust for AOL Daily Finance. We were thrilled to be asked and spent about 30 minutes speaking with Eric Wahlgren, the writer. He was a pleasure to speak with and we appreciated the care with which he asked the questions (not an experience we’ve always enjoyed with journalists). Even more pleasing was the fantastic article he published today on AOL.

I think it’s a fine representation of what we’ve tried to accomplish here at BabyOrBust, and I think it helps open up a few doors about infertility. I enjoyed hearing about some of the other creative things couples have used to raise the money. Like a wine tasting fundraiser – heck yeah!

Please read the story here.

BabyOrBust.com StoryCorps on Wichita’s KMUW

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

UPDATE: You can hear this five-minute segment of our interview re: the day of our pregnancy test at NPR station KMUW. Listen now!

If you are in the Wichita radio listening area, tune-in bright and early tomorrow morning to hear mine and Shelton’s recent StoryCorps interview.

WHERE: KMUW, 89.1AM
TIME: 6:35am, 8:35am
DATE: Wed 12/16/09

In November the StoryCorps bus made a stop in Wichita and we had the opportunity to spend 45 minutes interviewing one another and sharing our infertility and BabyOrBust story. StoryCorps is this fantastic organization that gives people a chance to record 45-minute interviews to capture a story, and the exchange occurs between family members, friends, colleagues, etc. from all walks of life. It’s a chance to save forever a conversation that might mean something only to the parties involved, and could very well touch the lives of the thousands of people who have the opportunity to listen. The digitized conversations are archived in the Library of Congress, and about one percent are selected to be aired on various NPR stations. Like ours!

If you’re awake and have your radio on, we hope you’re able to tune-in and listen!

BabyOrBust.com is a Featured Contributor at Wellsphere

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

In the summer 2008, we were approached by Wellsphere and asked to be amongst the first “health bloggers” to be a part of their pregnancy and fertility community. It meant having each of our posts republished on their site, a tremendous opportunity to share our story with an even broader audience.

Our story continues to be shown at Wellsphere, and we’re very glad to be a part of that ever-growing community.

Media Coverage

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

I have some dear friends who work in PR and their names will soon be added to the Thank You page (Shakila and Shawn).

Yesterday afternoon I received a call from Wichita’s Fox News anchor Liz Collin wanting to do a story. She wanted to meet 45 minutes from the time of her call. Shelton wasn’t able to make it, I honestly had dirty hair and my house was a disaster- Sure, please come on over!

The interview went really well and I handled it better than expected. The story aired on the 9pm news last night on Fox. Thanks to Liz and Fox for doing the story and for all of those who stopped by “BOB”.

This afternoon we heard from KFDI radio here in Wichita and we’ll be on their morning show Friday at 6:40- so tune in if you’re awake.
