We’re Back

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Over the weekend we ran into some tech issues that brought down the site. (I’d like to say it’s because ONE MILLION PEOPLE were visiting us!) Thanks to those of you who let us know, because I had not noticed on my own.

Thanks to our fabbo developer who resuscitated her this morning.

We will resume posting as normal. is a Featured Contributor at Wellsphere

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

In the summer 2008, we were approached by Wellsphere and asked to be amongst the first “health bloggers” to be a part of their pregnancy and fertility community. It meant having each of our posts republished on their site, a tremendous opportunity to share our story with an even broader audience.

Our story continues to be shown at Wellsphere, and we’re very glad to be a part of that ever-growing community.

Retweet to Win a Pair of TOMS Shoes

Sunday, April 5th, 2009

UPDATE: Congrats to @jtodak!

To be eligible RT @babyorbust I want to win a pair of free @TomsShoes!

We are always inspired by new ways that we can give back. And of course, as our Web site three years ago was a fairly unique way to raise the funds needed to do IVF, we’re especially intrigued by unique ways to help others. When we learned about the TOMS Shoe company, we agreed this was definitely something we could get behind. Blake Mycoskie was a contestant on the show Amazing Race. His travels took him to Argentina and after filming he returned there for vacation. He went on a volunteer mission helping a group of children receive shoes. Most of the children in these villages have never worn shoes. According to the “facts” published on TOMS‘ site, this can lead to illness, disease or even prevent them from attending school.

So Blake worked with locals to re-create a traditional shoe worn in Argentina. He upgraded the traditional rope sole to a rubber-style sole that would be more durable, and used canvas and corduroy material to make a comfortable, casual shoe. Blake returned to the U.S. to not only sell shoes, but to giveaway shoes. His commitment since day one has been to give one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair of shoes sold. One for one. Since 2006, TOMS has given away more than 60,000 shoes to children in Africa and Argentina.

While we’d love to have a pair of these super cute, super comfy shoes, we’d rather give than receive. We’ll buy one person a pair of TOMS (up to $50 value), if you’ll just tweet about BabyOrBust and TOMS! Just tweet this message before Monday, April 13, 2009 to be eligible.  RT @babyorbust I want to win a pair of free @TomsShoes!

We will draw one Twitterer at random on 4/13, then contact that person, get their mailing address and shoe size, and give away not only one pair to the Twitter winner, but another child somewhere in the world who needs a new pair of shoes a lot more than us.

Also, join Shelton and I on April 16 as we join TOMS for ”One Day Without Shoes.”

Donate to BabyOrBust When You Buy a Give Shirt

Monday, March 30th, 2009

They often say it’s better to give than it is to receive… but in this case, you can give AND receive! The Give Shirt is a fantastic philanthropic effort started by Thomas Budde. He’s got these quality black t-shirts that simply say “give” on the front. (The shirts are 100% organic sustainable cotton, American Apparel.)

You can purchase one for $25, and $10 of the proceeds go to the charity of your choice. When you check-out, simply input the name of the charity you want to benefit from your generosity.

We would be most grateful if you included in that space. But no matter who you select, you’ll be helping out an organization who needs it, and receive a sweet shirt that will inspire others to give, too!

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009 is getting our social on. We’d love for you to join our Facebook group, follow us on Twitter, or keep up with us on Flickr.

In the coming months, as we get closer to our date and actually go through the romantic and miraculous conception of our little IVF baby, you’ll be able to stay updated on all the gory details.

Happy 2nd Birthday Baby Or Bust

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

WHOA! Baby Or Bust turns TWO today!!

That is so insane and seems impossible. I’ve enjoyed every minute of working on this site.

Thank you to Jeremy who got this baby off the ground, without whom this site wouldn’t exist.

Thank you to our dear family and friends who’ve offered their endless support.

Thank you to the thousands and thousands of visitors who’ve stopped by.

Thank you to EVERY one of you who made a donation. The generosity of perfect strangers from around the world still dumbfounds me. We’ve been able to raise $6088.78 and every penny of that is more than I ever anticipated. It is SO appreciated.

Thank you to each person who has bookmarked this site and visits often.

Thank you to the people who’ve sent an email to share their story, or ask for an opinion or advice. We hope we’ve been able to help.

As a second birthday present to each of you and the site, I had planned on updating a number of items that have been a little neglected. I haven’t gotten to it, but hope to do so very, very soon.

We hope you’ll stick around for two or twenty more years as we continue to share our journey.
